2009 Semi-Finalists announced



Eighteen
semifinalists in the full-length feature category have been selected for the
2009 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival and Competition slated on July 17-26, 2009 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.



The
semifinalists are: 24K

Warrior by Francis O. Villacorta; Colorum by Jon Steffan
Ballesteros; Dinig Sana Kita
by Mike E. Sandejas; El
Ultimo de Las Luciernagas
(The Last of
the Fireflies) by Sheron Dayoc; Engkwentroby Pepe Diokno; In Nomine Matre (In the Name of the Mother) by Will Fredo
and Jay Garcia; Kung Sino Man
ang Makabasaby Audie A. Gonzales; Last Supper No. 3 by

Ten
finalists will be selected from this group of 18 semi-finalists and will be
announced on December 22, 2008.



Now on its fifth year, the Cinemalaya Competition is a project of
the Cinemalaya Foundation, CCP, Econolink Investments Inc. and Film Development
Council of the Philippines. It aims to discover,
encourage and honor the cinematic works of Filipino filmmakers that boldly
articulate and freely interpret the Filipino experience with fresh insight and
